Bovespa Index

When you download the Price Index of the Bovespa Index (DSMnemonic = BRBOVE) you’ll get some unexpected numbers: the data starts with a lot of zeros. The reason: the Bovespa Index has been rebased 11 times due to the high inflation in Brazil, especially from 1983 to 1997.

For each period there is a separate DSMnemonic: BRBOVE1, BRBOVE2, etc.

The BRBOVE1 until BRBOVE11 are ‘alive’ according to the Datastream Navigator, but BRBOVE12 is ‘dead’, so the best way to find Mnemonics like this you should mark ‘All’ at status in the Navigator.
